WHAT DOES AN OIL CHANGE INCLUDE?
It’s well known that you need to get your oil changed on a regular basis, but what does an oil change include? That’s the question our team at Ira Lexus of Danvers will answer here for drivers in the North Andover, Danvers, and Peabody areas.
WHAT AN OIL CHANGE INCLUDES:
When you bring your car by our service center for an oil change, you’ll be greeted by one of our technicians. They’ll take your vehicle back into our service bay to perform the following procedure:
- Lift the car
- Open the oil drain plug
- Drain the oil
- Change the filters
- Refill the oil
This is a simple, routine process that normally TAKES APPROXIMATELY 30-45 MINUTES for well-maintained cars. At that time, our dealership’s service center will also include a complimentary brake inspection and top off all fluids to ensure that your vehicle is ready to hit the road.
We’ll return your car to you freshly washed, as well, at no charge to you.
If you make your appointment at least three weeks in advance, you may also qualify for our complimentary Lexus pickup and delivery service. While we make sure that our service center’s lounge area is comfortable and accommodating, nothing compares to the comfort of your own home.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I GET AN OIL CHANGE?
If you want to keep your car in great shape, you’ll want to be sure to schedule an oil change every 7,500-10,000 MILES, or at least once per year (whichever comes first).
While it’s best to stay vigilant about scheduling regular maintenance , also keep an eye out for signs from your vehicle that you’re due. These include:
• Slower acceleration
• A knocking sound in the engine
• More frequent fill-ups
• An oil smell in the cabin
Remember that if you’re seeing these signs, you’re probably already overdue for an oil change, so contact your dealership’s service center as soon as possible to make an appointment. Try to refrain from driving as much as possible until you have your car checked out.
WHY GET AN OIL CHANGE?
It’s important to receive regular oil changes because oil plays an important part in the operation of your vehicle. Over time, as it moves through your engine, your oil can pick up debris and other particles, causing it to become sluggish and less effective at doing its two main jobs:
1. Lubrication
2. Temperature regulation
Your engine is made up of many parts that rapidly most past each other during operation. Engine oil helps to lubricate these parts so that they don’t rub up against each other and create damaging friction. This movement can also cause a lot of heat buildup, which the viscous nature of oil helps to dissipate. This helps to prevent your engine from overheating.
If your oil is dirty, not only will you notice a possible performance decrease, but your engine may eventually experience irreparable and costly damage.
The good news is, if you’re diligent about having this simple routine service performed, your oil should stay clean and your engine should operate as intended.
