CAR BATTERY REPLACEMENT: BEFORE YOU BEGIN

That way, you’ll avoid getting battery acid on your skin. On top of that, try your best to prevent any battery acid from making its way onto your clothes or your car’s paint.
Finally, and perhaps most importantly, take extra care when connecting the wires to the battery terminals. By connecting the correct wires to the right battery terminals, you’ll avoid any possible damage to your vehicle’s battery and other electrical parts.

HOW TO CHANGE YOUR CAR BATTERY

1.) FIND YOUR BATTERY 
First, use your Owner’s Manual to identify the area where your battery is stored. For the most part, you’ll find the battery under the hood, but in some instances, it’s located in the trunk of behind the steering wheel.
2.) LOCATE THE POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINALS. 
By locating these ahead of time, you’ll know where to connect the cables during the later stages of this process. After that, use your wrench to loosen the bolt on the negative battery post, which secures the negative terminal and cable.
3.) PICK UP THE TERMINAL PULLER 
Once the bolt on the negative battery post is loose, twist and pull the end of the cable with your terminal puller. From there, simply repeat Steps 2 and 3 on the positive battery post.
4.) TAKE OFF THE BATTERY HOLD-DOWN CLAMP.  
Carefully remove the battery hold-down clamp by using a combination wrench. Set it and any associated parts aside for later use.
5.) REMOVE THE BATTERY 
Since batteries tend to be heavy, take your old battery out with both hands. Otherwise, use the handle, if your battery has one.

6.) CLEAN THE CORROSION
Before you move forward, make sure to clean off any corrosion that’s built up on the hold-down clamp, battery tray, or battery terminals by using a battery cleaning solution. While you’re at it, scrub any corrosion off of the cable connectors with a wire brush.

7.) PUT YOUR NEW BATTERY IN THE HOLD-DOWN TRAY. 
To ensure that your battery is positioned correctly, match up the positive battery post with the positive terminal and cable inside the hold-down tray. Next, replace the hold-down clamp and any other parts you set aside in Step 4.
8.) WARD OFF CORROSION 
Keep your new battery free from corrosion by protecting the ends of both battery terminals with anti-corrosion spray.
9.) CONNECT THE CABLES 
Like we mentioned above, make sure to attach the positive battery cable to the positive post first. Once you’ve accomplished that, do the same with the negative battery cable and negative post.
10.) CHECK THE CONNECTIONS  
Finish up your battery replacement by double checking the cable connections and battery hold-downs. Both should be secure and tightly fastened. You can even ensure that the battery is in place by pushing it back and forth. If it doesn’t budge, you’re good to go!
