The Lobster Shanty has called Salem’s Artist Row home for decades. Artist Row is a public plaza that sits at the heart of Salem. Once a year, it gives artisans the opportunity to showcase their craft, and in doing so, build an audience.

While artists, tourists, and residents alike have come and gone, The Lobster Shanty remains. However, a few years back, the lease for the space that the shanty calls home was put up for public bid.
To save their beloved eatery, the community of Salem came together and created an online petition demanding that the city “Save our Shanty.” The petition was signed by thousands and it was ultimately decided that The Lobster Shanty would remain.

WHAT’S ON THE MENU

When you head over to The Lobster Shanty for a bite, you’ll certainly want to start out with one of their delicious appetizers. Our top pick is the Poutine. It’s cheddar cheese curds, fries, and beef gravy. If you’re really hoping to get that New England vibe, you’ll have to try the clam chowder, made with fresh clams and their house bacon.

For the main course, you could get one of their awesome “sammiches.” They have options like pulled pork, fried fish, and crab cake. If you’re in the mood for a burger, we suggest the Scary Uncle Sully Burger. It comes with bacon, pepper-jack, American, and swiss, and is topped off with fresh jalapenos.
