The above-mentioned safety ratings for Lexus mainly have to do with its suite of driver-assisting technologies that come standard in most of its models. Lexus Safety System+ comes with many features to help prevent accidents from occurring, such as…
• Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection: The system will send a visual and audible alert if it detects an imminent collision with a vehicle or pedestrian in front of you. If you don’t react in time, the system can automatically apply the brakes.
• Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist: Uses a high-resolution camera to detect lane markings on the road. If you begin to unintentionally drift from your lane, the system will send audio and visual warnings, as well as steering wheel vibrations. And if you don’t react soon enough, it’ll use corrective steering to get you back to your lane center.
• All-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control: Will maintain a set speed, plus following distance from the vehicle in front of you. Even if you’re in stop-and-go traffic, the system will automatically slow the vehicle down to keep that preset distance.
Although Audi offers many of the same safety features in its models, a lot of them don’t come standard.
